Bay Class is home to our oldest pupils, from Years 5 and 6. Bay Class is situated in the main building with our other Phase 2 class River and is based in the newest classroom, built in 2003.
Bay Class is named after Bridgwater Bay, the destination for the River Parrett as it joins the Bristol Chanel.
Bay Class is taught by Mrs Zoe Llewellyn and Miss Bev Smith (HLTA)
Welcome to the Autumn Term
We are looking forward to getting stuck into learning in our new classroom. Our first topic is Roald Dahl's World which we will be exploring through the book Matilda as well as other Roald Dahl extracts. Through following Roald Dahl's travels and life, we will explore Norway, Tanzania, Libya, Greece and Washington, USA. We will investigate properties of materials as we examine special effects in Science. Our DT focus will be cooking and nutrition as we bring alive Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes and create our own recipe book. Inspired by Quentin Blake, we will develop our drawing and watercolour skills.
We will also be building our growth mindsets through the Big Life Journal and settling in to our new roles and responsibilities.
Wednesday and Friday are our Pro-coaching sports sessions, but please have PE kit in school every day along with wet weather gear and wellies as we like to take our learning outside wherever possible.
In Bay Class, children use the right tools for the task, choosing pen for many written tasks. All equipment, including pens, is provided. If children choose to bring their own pen, it must be black ink (not biro or gel pen) and must be clearly named as it will live in the table pen pots when not in a child's own bag.
Homework is set on a Friday and due in on the following Wednesday. Spellings are tested each Friday.
