Set In Stone
Our first theme of the year gave us the opportunity to find out about how our ancestors lived in the Stone Age. We explored many of the skills that they would have needed, ranging from hunting and tool making to fire starting and also studied how and why they would have created the world's first art with their amazing cave paintings!
We also visited Cheddar Caves to meet Andy, a modern caveman, who demonstrated some of these skills.
We visited the caves themselves to find out about Cheddar Man, who lived in them over 15,000 years ago and the habitat he shared with the creatures of prehistoric Somerset. The Dreamhunters 4D exhibition also showed us what it must have been like to hunt and to be hunted!
We had a fantastic day and our experiences helped to inspire our diary writing about life in the Stone Age.
The cave matured Cheddar Cheese was delicious!
