School Dinners

From September 2014, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible to receive a Universal Infant Free School Meal (UIFSM). The Government made this decision because a good lunch has a positive impact upon children's health, development and ability to learn. It is also important that children develop healthy eating habits to combat the rising problem of childhood obesity.

Meals are also available to key stage two children at a cost of £2.42.

The Governors awarded the catering contract to Aspens at Brymore Academy who operate a 3 week rotation of menus throughout the year.

If your child is not having hot lunches we would like to encourage all parents/carers to provide their children with a healthy packed lunch.   To reinforce this we request that lunches do not include sweets, chocolate or fizzy drinks. The School Food Trust have developed three different packed lunch menus for primary school aged children with tried and tested recipes that meet the same nutrient-based standards as school lunches.

Free school meals will be provided for those entitled to receive them.  Please ask at the office if you need help or advice regarding free meals.  If you believe you may be entitled to receive free meals but do not intend to make an application, please speak with the head teacher – it may be that school trips can also be subsidised in such circumstances.

For more information about school meals please speak to Mrs Hill.
